NEW STUDENTS!

I am currently looking for new students of all levels!!!

I have over 7 years of teaching experience, which includes teaching beginners as young as 3 years old, to adults 30 and older, as well as helping more advanced students to complete their RCM exams successfully- with First Class Honours.

My goal is to help my students build a solid foundation of piano technique and musical knowledge so that they will be able to enjoy themselves and express themselves freely throughout their musical journey, whether it is just for fun or to prepare for a career in music.

“Sara is not only an amazing pianist but also the best piano teacher I’ve ever had! She has a huge passion in piano teaching and it is shown in all of her lessons. My piano skills have definitely improved a lot under Sara’s guidance!”
– Ingrid Huang, 15 (RCM Grade 9, First Class Honours)

Ingrid recently got accepted to McGill University to study both science and music. Congrats Ingrid!

“When our daughter started with Sara, we did not expect her to love playing the piano. We thought that her interest in playing the piano will not last. However, six months later and three piano books after, we are seeing our real progress in our daughter who can now easily read notes and play her level 1 piano songs with ease.  We like Sara’s cordial manner of teaching, her unquestionable technical expertise and most specially her patience.”
– Alaina & John

Neena, who has just turned 7 years old, is an enthusiastic beginner who has gone through 2 books since starting in October! She has recorded some videos to show you how much fun learning piano can be!

Frequently Asked Questions:

I don’t have a piano at home. What kind of instrument do I need?

All students must have a piano at home in order to be able to practice regularly. For beginners, keyboards are acceptable, but uprights are preferred. Keyboards must have weighted keys and have 88 keys. They will be expected to upgrade when they get to a higher level. For intermediate/advanced students, upright or grand pianos are necessary. For more details on choosing a good piano/keyboard, please send me an email.

I would like my toddler to learn piano, is that too young?

Every child develops at their own pace, so for some children, they may be able to start as early as age 3 or 4, and for others, they might struggle with a short attention span at age 6 or older. You can arrange a meeting with me to see how your child reacts to piano lessons and if they are ready or need to wait a few more months/years. I have taught children as young as 3 years old.

What is the perfect age to start learning piano?

The perfect age depends on the child, but I would recommend starting at age 4-8.

I am an adult and I would love to learn piano. Is it too late for me?

It is never too late to learn piano! There are many method books structured specifically for adult beginners, so you will not need to use the same books as the little kids. The biggest difference is that they are for fully grown hands, and faster-paced learning.
